Kongming’s Archives Avatars

Many online forums (such as Scholars of Shen Zhou) and Instant Messenger Clients (such as AOL Instant Messenger) allow users to display images which represent themselves known as avatars. Here at Kongming’s Archives a wide variety of avatars can be found related to the Three Kingdoms era and other games of interest. Common sizes range between 50x50 (for AIM) to 64x64 and 64x80 (allowed in most forums). Three Kingdoms related avatars are listed at the top of the page, while non-Three Kingdoms avatars are shown at the bottom.

Using our Avatars

Over time our avatars have become very popular features at numerous forums across the Internet, multiple cultures, and numerous languages. We are very happy to see this development, but unfortunately this has turned into a considerable portion of our bandwidth (we are currently averaging around 40GBs a week). As a result, we are sad to say, we will soon be discontinuing remote linking here at Kongming’s Archives. Because we don’t want to deprive everyone of our avatars, however, we are introducing some new policy changes.

Webmasters running a forum are free to upload our avatars to their forum software so their members may select them from in-forum menus. Please link back to us as a thank you and contact us with the link.
We are also now willing to allow Webmasters to upload full collections from our site as long as they meet three requirements. 1) Remote linking must be enabled and allowed by your site policy. 2) You must add featured avatars to a publicly viewable page which I can link to from our avatars section, and you must send me this link. And finally, 3) you must allow members of the community to remote link to our avatars on your site. If you are interested, let me know. I will be happy to zip avatar directories and send them to you over email for this purpose.

And please remember people, as always, we allow individuals to upload any of our avatars to their own Web space for personal use in whatever forums they wish (no permission required). Our only requirement there is that you do not make money off our work. Please remember that we do reserve the right to determine on a case-by-case basis what sites are allowed to include our avatars and what sites will not. If you have any questions, or would like to host some of our avatars, please submit them using this form.
